My first jobs were working at Jack in the Box, washing windows and roustabouting in Enid, Oklahoma oil fields. I worked on a farm in Iowa, was a big brother and tutored reading to prison inmate Johnny Johnson.
I earned a bachelor of arts degree from Claremont Men's College. Classmates Ralph Galantine and Steve Tao and Dave Spencer named me "Happy Dave".
I am a Century III Leader, American Academy of Achievement awardee, a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, 4th generation Mason, former president of the largest Key Club in the world best friends Kelly Monroe, Susan Elliott Silvia Malaccorto, Gayle Okumura--Leland High School); student board member, San Jose' Unified School District, representing 33,000 fellow students. Leland High School is blessed to have our friend Rob Miller '81 as a professor!
Vance Walker, best friend since our days together at Williams Elementary school, can attest to the "crazy glue incident" which occurred in our driveway @ 1238 Wooded Hills...
I am a certified massage therapist and I founded Legacy of Service and Leonardo da Vinci Entertainment. I penned an autobiography at the age of 14. It was a joy to meet Kimberly Weston, Miss California 2024.
I was the assistant to Doris Crenshaw when I interned for VP Walter Mondale in 1984. Doris marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. & Doris founded the Southern Youth Leadership Council. She gave me an amazing picture of MLK, Jr. with Mahatma Gandhi in the background!

This was the song our family always played for Harriet, and she was the beloved angel of our family now and always will be.

Our Scottish terrier named FALA. The famous dog that Eleanor Roosevelt gave to FDR. The only animal featured on a national monument in Washington, DC.

David Eastis volunteered tirelessly for several months before the last presidential election donating money himself and calling prospective donors throughout the United States raising over $7000… I thought like most Americans with a heart and a brain and 32 Nobel laureates, the Bidens , the Obamas, the Clintons, Delores Huerta, Oprah, Robert DeNiro, Beyoncé, Barbara Streisand, Cher, Adam Sandler, George Clooney, Michael Pence, Susan Ford, George W. Bush Jr. Dick and Liz Cheney, Magic Johnson, Arnold Schwartzeneiger… that Kamala Harris & Tim Walz would win by a land slide… then the election results came in and it was like a terrible train wreck… similar to an episode of “Twighlight Zone”

Truman Scholar with Laura May Grisalano, Christopher Coons who is the ranking senator from the state of Delaware and ABC news anchor George Stephanonopolis who served also in the Clinton administration.David Eastis met Margaret Truman Daniels twice... once in independence Missouri and the other time was at a joint session of Congress in the nations capital when he met Margaret the second time and also people like Tip O’Neill the speaker of the house and John Snyder Truman secretary of treasury and also Pamela Harriman, who was the socialite once married to the son of Winston Churchill.

Although she is actually 86 years old, she skis in Utah and has a spirit of a 39-year-old. Recently she gave a sermon both in English and in Spanish.Barbara has authored three books and one of them about Thomastheapostle.netLike me she was friends with Rosalynn & Jimmy Carter. I attended church with them at the Maranatha Baptist Church for two full years and I used to shop at Piggly Wiggly with Rosalynn … and Jimmy asked me to date the minister‘s daughter. I was with him at his home in Plains , Georgia when he called the prime minister of India Indira Gandhi… and that Made it possible for Habitat for Humanity to join in that country.Barbara met His Holiness the Dalai Lama… I’ve been privileged to travel to 22 countries and she has visited 120!At the Trinity Episcopalian Church , which is open and affirming… the historic church was built in 1863 when Abraham Lincoln was president and it is across the street from Saint James Park which on a typical day has over 100 homeless men and women and children like Marilyn who sleeps in the doorway of the church.The Bible study led by Jim Alexander uses an inspiring book “AFLAME” by award-winning author Pico Iyer

The Elliott family and the Eastis family have been friends since 1971 when my family first moved here from Denver and I’ve made a recent gift to the YMCA in memory of Mary Sarah Elliott.

A few of the great joys of my life:

It was an honor to raise millions of dollars to support worthwhile organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, UC Davis Medical Center & the UOP Dugoni School of Dentistry with the king of US dentistry, Art Dugoni. Art was the dean at Dugoni for 29 years...rare that a building is named after someone while they are still alive...Art and his amazing wife Kaye created a family environment there which perpetuates their lives of service...

I directed award-winning projects for Elvis Presley Entertainment working with Priscilla Presley and a John and Jackie Kennedy series with Jacques Lowe, the Kennedy family official photographer.
It has been a privilege to meet presidents Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, George Herbert Walker Bush, Sr., Richard Nixon (met him at the Plaza Hotel in NYC the very day he and Pat moved from San Clemente) and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wonderful wife who was a school teacher.
My Italian-born wife Sabrina Maria Camileri and I were blessed by His Holiness Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. We will celebrate our 20th year of marriage on 4 October 2024, the feast day of Saint Francis. We adore our Yorkie Bacio (kiss in Italian) and Scottish terrier Fala, named after the famous dog Eleanor gave Franklin Delano Roosevelt--buried between them at Hyde Park and the only animal featured on a US monument in Washington DC).
I met Coretta Scott King when Habitat for Humanity founder Millard Fuller was presented an award at the King Center in Atlanta; Millard then took me to visit Jimmy at the home of his mother Ms. Lillian after she died. During that time Jimmy called the Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi to provide Millard an entree' to get Habitat for Humanity into India...wow, I sat with my boyhood hero for an hour! When I worked for Habitat in Americus, GA from 1987-89, it was a joy to worship most Sundays with Rosalynn & Jimmy at the Maranatha Baptist Church--they sponsored me when I was baptized in water...I would see Rosalynn pushing a grocery cart at Pigly Wigly the local grocery store...
At the presidio in San Francisco, I was 10 feet away from Rita and Mikhail Gorbachev.
It was exciting to hear President Ronald Reagan address a crowd of a thousands of people at a speech he gave at the US Capitol
The popular performer Rihanna and I bumped into each other waiting for a table at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
From 1977-1978 I wrote letters to John W McCormick, who was the retired speaker of the House of Representatives.
In the days before email, I had pen pals in Brazil, England, Denmark, France and Sweden.I spoke with Edward Teller (father of the hydrogen bomb) at the Bel Air estate of Conrad Hilton. General Colin Powell (at the United Nation's 50th anniversary celebration at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC--Barbara Walters introduced Powell and Happy Rockefeller. I told him that my grandfather David Eastis fought in WWI, WWII, was awarded 3 purple heart medals .He was also a Denver police officer for 35 years and during the Korean War he served in Seoul as a special advisor to the police there....When I told General Powell all of this, he told me that my Papa Eastis served our country well). I also met Astronaut John Glenn,
Eunice Kennedy (foundress of Special Olympics), Sarge Shriver (created Peace Corps) and their son, Anthony Kennedy Shriver who started Best Buddies--I was at Sarge's 80th birthday celebration at their home in Potomac, Maryland; John B. Connally, Jr. (Texas governor, who was in car with Jackie when JFK was killed),
Margaret Truman-Daniels, (met her family the 2nd time at a joint session of the US Congress!)....Senators Ted Kennedy, Alan Simpson, Thomas Eagleton, Paul Laxalt, Howard Metzenbaum, Daniel Inoye (Medal of Honor recipient) John Hershey of Hershey ketchup, Actor Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, Lily Tomlin, Sofia Loren and author Walter Isaacson endorsed my book about Leonardo da Vinci. I teamed up with Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity founder, and Jimmy Carter to create the original 77 campus chapters at colleges. As a result of those efforts, there are now hundreds of chapters around the world raising millions of dollars to support people in need of decent, affordable housing.

It was a pleasure to meet Sharon Percy Rockefeller and her father, Senator Chuck Percy at the Democratic Convention in San Francisco. Ken Burns produced a documentary called "Cancer: The Empress of All". It is a "must see" film. My wife Sabrina Maria also knows the parents of famous Italian actress Monica Belluci. They are Brunella Briganti and Pasquale Belluci--they were clients of her parents ceramic business in Deruta, the world capital of artisan masterpieces such as the ones hand-painted by artist Claudia Ciotti--some of her pieces fetch $10k..they are painted using 22kt gold. Truly magnificent.

When I worked at the American Red Cross, I knew Chief Rob Davis who appears in my 1st book about 7. During my two years with Red Cross, I helped to raise $1m from Cisco System's--their CEO John Chambers--a portion of that large gift went to fund the kid's safety house and safe rides--programs championed by my dear friend Rex Cleo Painter--I hired Coleen Gaard (former national 4H president and a Harvard grad.) to be our chapter's 1st youth director).

Alton Davd Eastis: Enlisted at the age of 15. Served in WWI and WWII during which time he was awarded three purple hearts for being wounded in action. He spoke at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese bombed us on 7 December 1941.Papa was a police advisor in Seoul during the Korean War. For 35 years he was a detective on the Denver police force and a chief of security at Martin Marietta (grandfather)3. Harriet Jacquelyn Tornow Eastis was a riveter at Ryan Aerospace in San Diego during WWII. She was also Denver's first meter maid, (grandmother).4. Gerald Mollendor served in the US Air Force for six years (uncle).5. Harry "Boots" Wall, Sergeant. WWII, (great grandfather)6. John Simeone , WWII sergeant. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt visited him in Germany wearing a Red Cross uniform) (great uncle)7. Henry WInston Tornow, Major, US Army, WWII (great grandfather)8. Winston Tornow, DMV, Captain, Veterinary Corps (great uncle)9. James Andrew Eastis, Captain in the Confederacy under General Robert E. They were close Martin Marietta during the halcyon days of the Titan II project. Author Neil Sheehan wrote "A Bright Shining Lie" (Pulitzer Prize winning novel) and an HBO special also portrayed his life. President Richard M. Nixon posthumously awarded Vann the Presidential Medal of Freedom award. He is buried at Arlington Cemetery.11. Strom Thurmond, US Senator from South Carolina. Texas Governor John Connally who was in the car with Jackie when JFK was tragically killed. Tim McGarvey served in the military. Sean Metterer served in the US military. Tim Albertson, MD. Michael Mullahey served in the US Navy. Clark Clifford, Esquire was an advisor to Truman and FDR. Scott Kawamoto served in the US Navy. Brothers Tony and Lauren Gross served in WWII. Joe Mollendor, his brothers Alex and George and sister was in WAC–all served in WWI.In 1977, I wrote a letter to five star General of the Army Omar Nelson Bradley (a rank reserved for generals during a world war). He was the first of the 23 chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and after whom the Bradley tank is named. He sent me a great letter personally signed by Bradley. Let us hope and pray that he is the last five star general in the future of our nation!GOD BLESS the USA and the WORLD
